Why You’re Seeing “DesignBuilder Install Folder Not Found” During Revit Add-In Setup

Modified on Fri, 19 Sep at 4:23 PM

If you're trying to install the DesignBuilder AddIn for Revit 20xx and encounter the error message:

DesignBuilder Install Folder not found. Check for correct installation of DesignBuilder.

This message appears because the main DesignBuilder application is not installed on your computer. The Revit Add-In is designed to work alongside DesignBuilder, and it relies on the presence of the core software to function properly. Without it, the installer cannot locate the necessary folder structure or files, and the process fails.

To fix this issue:

- Download and install DesignBuilder from the official website: https://designbuilder.co.uk

- Once installed, re-run the Add-In installer for Revit 20xx.

- The installer should now detect the DesignBuilder folder and complete successfully.

The Add-In is essentially a bridge between Revit and DesignBuilder, allowing users to export building models for energy analysis and simulation. Without the DesignBuilder software installed, there's nowhere for the bridge to connect—hence the error.
